504 Plan Support

We know that not every child qualifies for special education through an IEP, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need support. Many students with learning differences, medical conditions, or attention challenges are entitled to accommodations through a 504 Plan. These plans, protected under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, ensure that students have equal access to learning and school activities.

Our goal is to help families understand their child’s rights, navigate the school system, and develop a 504 Plan that truly reflects their child’s needs.

What is a 504 Plan?

A 504 Plan is designed for students who may not need specialized instruction but still require accommodations to learn and participate alongside their peers. Examples of accommodations may include:

  • Extended time on tests and assignments

  • Breaks during long tasks

  • Preferential classroom seating

  • Access to assistive technology

  • Modified homework expectations

  • Support for medical or mental health needs

These accommodations level the playing field so that students can succeed without being unfairly limited by their challenges.

Why 504 Plan Support Matters

Many families struggle with the 504 process. Schools may not always explain your options clearly, or accommodations may not be applied consistently. At IEP Connection, we guide parents through every step, ensuring that:

  • Your child’s unique needs are fully identified and documented.

  • The 504 Plan includes specific, practical accommodations.

  • Parents know how to advocate for consistency across teachers and classrooms.

  • Plans are reviewed and updated as your child grows.

How We Support Families

Our 504 Plan support includes:

  • Evaluation Guidance: Helping families understand assessments that may support 504 eligibility.

  • Plan Development: Working with schools to craft detailed, effective accommodations.

  • Meeting Support: Preparing parents for school meetings and guiding them in effective communication.

  • Follow-Up: Reviewing whether accommodations are being implemented and suggesting adjustments as needed.
