At IEP Connection, we know that seeking an evaluation for your child can feel overwhelming. Parents often wonder: Where do I start? What will the process look like? What answers will I get? Our goal is to provide families with clear direction, compassionate support, and thorough assessments that lead to real understanding and effective solutions.
Every child is unique. That’s why we take the time to carefully evaluate not just symptoms, but the whole child — their strengths, challenges, personality, and environment. Our evaluation process is designed to uncover what your child needs to succeed both academically and emotionally, while also giving you practical guidance on how to move forward.
In-depth evaluations to understand each child’s unique strengths and needs.
Guidance and advocacy to ensure education plans meet student goals.
Bridging families and educators to create the best learning environment.
While each assessment is personalized, most evaluations include the following:
Initial Consultation & Clinical Interview
We begin with a detailed conversation with parents and caregivers. This step allows us to gather important background information such as developmental history, medical history, school performance, and family observations. Teachers or other caregivers may also provide input to help us understand your child across different settings.
Behavioral and Cognitive Testing
Your child may complete standardized tests that measure attention, memory, processing speed, problem-solving, and executive functioning. These tools help us pinpoint how your child learns, thinks, and approaches tasks.
Observations in Session
How your child responds during testing can be just as important as the scores. We carefully observe effort, frustration tolerance, motivation, and behavior, all of which provide valuable insight.
Rating Scales and Questionnaires
To capture a complete picture, we often ask parents, teachers, and sometimes the child to fill out structured questionnaires. These highlight patterns in focus, behavior, mood, and social skills.
Feedback and Guidance Session
Once the evaluation is complete, we meet with you to review the results in detail. We explain what the findings mean in everyday terms, answer your questions, and provide actionable recommendations.
Testing is only the first step — what truly makes a difference is how results are explained and applied. Many families find that without clear guidance, assessment reports can feel overwhelming or difficult to interpret. At IEP Connection, we pride ourselves on bridging this gap.
Our role is to:
Clarify your child’s unique profile of strengths and challenges.
Help you understand how these results affect school, home, and social life.
Provide tailored recommendations for interventions, supports, or accommodations.
Connect you with resources such as school services, therapists, or medical providers when needed.
By translating data into meaningful insights, we ensure you walk away not just with a report, but with a clear path forward.
We know that parents are the experts on their children. That’s why our process is built on partnership. We collaborate closely with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure recommendations are realistic, individualized, and truly helpful.
Our approach emphasizes:
Clarity: Explaining results in language you can understand.
Compassion: Recognizing the emotions and concerns that come with seeking answers.
Empowerment: Equipping you with knowledge and strategies that help your child thrive.
Ultimately, the goal of an evaluation is not just to identify difficulties, but to uncover potential and guide growth. With the right information, children can receive the support they need to succeed in school, strengthen relationships, and build confidence.
